REPORT: Maple Leafs Appear to Have Chosen Their Path With the Core Four

The Maple Leafs have been quite successful in the regular season since the core four was established. However, success is not derived from the regular season but rather from the postseason.

Because of this, there have been rumors about the Leafs potentially moving a core four member and the Leafs have shared their intentions with the players.

NHL insider Chris Johnston reported:

They could but is far less likely now. If there is a trade, it means either the Leafs will be getting a great return and think that they're winning the trade outright or it means that everything has gone wrong and they need to go on damage control by recouping assets.

If the Leafs were to trade somebody, it is likely William Nylander and Nylander could fetch multiple first-round picks and more.
