A former player of the Maple Leafs organization finds himself in another controversy.
SHL Team Terminate Agostino's Contract
Skelleftea AIK, a team in the SHL, had penned a deal with the former NHLer, Kenny Agostino. However, the team wasn't prepared for the whirlwind of backlash that followed.
His stint in Russia that put him under the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Choosing to play in Russia didn't sit well with many.
The overwhelming reaction forced Skelleftea AIK's hand, prompting them to make an unexpected move. They shared their sentiments in a recently released statement.
"For Skelleftea AIK, the question of his attempt to end his contract with the Russian club before last season has been important. New information in the media and from other sources changes our position. We therefore choose to break the contract." General Manager Erik Forssell said.
Club director Asa Andersson went on to add, "We have had many contacts with partners, members, supporters and others with black and yellow hearts in recent days. People's love for and commitment to the club is the most important thing we have. We continue forward together and for the good of Skelleftea AIK."

Agostino will probably be forced to explore new horizons if he wants to pursue his hockey career.
