The Tampa Bay Lightning have secured defenseman Victor Hedman for another four years, with a contract extension averaging $8 million per year.

Hedman, 33, had an impressive 2023-24 season, tallying 63 assists and 76 points, including 31 power-play points.
Among NHL defenseman, he was fourth in assists, fifth in points, sixth in man-advantage production, and eighth in average ice time (24:48). He led all Lightning players in average ice time and ranked second in assists and fourth in points.
The Lightning have signed Victor Hedman to a four-year, $32M contract extension. ⚡️
Throughout his career with the Bolts, Hedman has played 1,052 games, scoring 156 goals and 728 points, with 259 power-play points and a plus-175 rating. Since his NHL debut in 2009, he ranks third among active defensemen in points and plus-minus, fourth in power-play points, and fifth in games played.
Drafted second overall by the Lightning in 2009, Hedman has won the Norris Trophy, Conn Smythe Trophy, and two Stanley Cups. This extension ensures he will continue to be a cornerstone for Tampa Bay.
