Recent reports suggest that a star player's departure from the team could be imminent.

The Trade Buzz Around Krug

Torey Krug, a mainstay on the St. Louis Blues' defense for three years, is under contract for another four years. However, signs indicate he might consider waiving his no-trade clause if a good opportunity arises.
Krug reportedly turned down a trade to the Philadelphia Flyers, expressing a reluctance to join them. This incident could have left Krug with mixed feelings.
Jeremy Rutherford from The Athletic provides insight:
«But I'm going to predict that a Krug trade happens during this season for three reasons:

1. Even though he has handled the Philadelphia situation professionally, it's a potentially awkward and distracting situation.
2. The Blues have a lot of defensive depth and will want to get Scott Perunovich in the lineup.
3. The team's payroll is near the NHL's $83.5 million salary cap, and moving out Krug's cap hit would go a long way in giving them some cushion."

The Krug Cost

Torey Krug, a smaller defenseman at 5'9", plays much bigger than his size. He excels in the offensive zone as a powerplay quarterback, backed by impressive points.
Though he faced challenges last season, a rebound could benefit a contender. The concern with a Krug trade is his cost.
His cap hit is $26 million over four years, but the actual contract amounts to $31.5 million. This could strain acquiring teams financially.
In conclusion, getting Krug would be costly. If the Blues decide to make a move, Krug might be on his way out.
