The Anaheim Ducks are shockingly not terrible so far this season. While the team has certainly had its fair share of lucky breaks, they have far exceeded their expectations of being on of the worst teams in the league. The team extended its winning streak to five games as they now boast a respectable 6-4 record, good for 4th on the pacific division.
That being said, the Ducks are still a rebuilding team. Gudas was brought in to protect the younger more skilled guys like Trevor Zegras, Mason McTavish, and Pavel Mintyukov. So far he's done quite the job, already registering multiple fights and 26 penalty minutes.
Gudas probably does not want to fight every night though, especially when he could be in danger of taking a bad penalty with his team down late in the game. Last night, Gudas seemingly wanted to take the safe route, avoiding Arizona's Jack McBain.
The play earned the Ducks a power play and they would go on to win the game 4-3. As such, it would seem that Gudas came out on top this time. The Coyotes and Ducks will match up against each other again on December 29th. Look for Gudas to be involved physically in that one and what the Coyotes response will be.
