Breaking: Panthers Place First Overall Pick on LTIR

The Florida Panthers will kickoff their 2023-24 season tomorrow, but they'll be starting without a significant player from their defensive lineup.

A Tough Loss for the Panthers, Top Defenseman Place on LTIR

The Panthers, already missing Sam Bennett, have officially moved Aaron Ekblad to the Long Term Injury Reserve. This move is to accommodate the introduction of Justin Sourdif, who is stepping in for Bennett.

With Sam Bennett in a boot and slated to miss Thursday's season-opener against the Minnesota Wild, the Florida Panthers have recalled rookie forward Justin Sourdif.

In order to facilitate the move salary cap-wise, the Panthers placed defenseman Aaron Ekblad on long term injury reserve.

This loss could be a significant setback for the Panthers, especially considering the momentum they carried from their playoff performance last season. Facing four challenging games at the beginning of the season doesn't bode well for them.

Last season, Ekblad played in 71 games, scored 14 goals and 38 points. His physicality was a cornerstone for the Panthers' defense. Now, the team has to navigate this season with his absence in their lineup.
