Of course, one team's loss is another team's gain.
The Edmonton Oilers pounced on the opportunity to sign Hyman, giving him a seven-year contract that has not-so-quietly become one of the best value deals in the entire NHL. The Oilers are lucky to have Hyman on such a team-friendly deal as both Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid are coming towards the end of their deals. Both players are due substantial raises which could make it very difficult for the team to keep this core together in the long-run. One thing is for sure though, Zach Hyman is going to be an Oiler for a long time.
