The Edmonton Oilers are on the verge of a highly anticipated first round series against the Kings, and now they've made a surprising move.

With Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard in net, the Edmonton Oilers finally appear optimistic in their goaltending ahead of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and have now made a surprise move ahead of game one against the Kings.

The Oilers have recalled Ryan Fanti. He will serve as the EBUG for the Oilers during the playoffs.

According to a report, the team have recalled Ryan Fanti as an EBUG for the playoffs, and if he gets into a game, it would be his NHL debut.

The 24-year old Ontario native went undrafted in 2022, and played in 8 games with the AHL's Bakersfield Condors during the 2022-23 season, putting together a 3.71 GAA and an .884 save percentage. This season he put up a 2.75 GAA and a .915 save percentage in the ECHL, and will now potentially play a crucial role in the playoffs.

Hopefully for Edmonton, they'll get a very different Skinner from last playoffs and won't need any help in net, but there's certainly much worse options for them if something does happen.
