The Edmonton Oilers will have some big decisions to make over the next two summers, and it appears as though they're ready to pay their top stars.

After almost reaching the top of the mountain in the NHL, the Edmonton Oilers have loaded up in the summer of 2024 as they look to finally break Canada's Stanley Cup drought in 2025. Next off-season however their big decisions will finally arrive, with Leon Draisaitl set to hit free agency in the summer of 2025, while captain Connor McDavid's contract expires the following year.
There's been plenty of speculation around what will happen with arguably the NHL's best duo, and now, Steve Dangle and the hosts of the Steve Dangle Podcast have predicted what will happen, and it's great news for Oilers fans.
AW: "The Oilers are going to give these two players, McDavid and Draisaitl, a blank check. What do you want?"

JB: "Auston is the highest-paid player next season starting at $13.5 million?"

AW: "That won't last. I think Leon's $13.5 and I think Connor's $14."
Sure, it's easy to say something like this just under 12 months out from Draisaitl's free agency, but if the team have the money to pay both, these are deals that would definitely make sense. With Edmonton chasing a Stanley Cup, they'll need to tread lightly around Draisaitl's contract discussions heading into next season, and if things don't go their way, it will be a story to watch moving forward.
