Following their tough loss in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals, Darren Dreger reported that Edmonton Oilers GM Ken Holland is set to depart from the team.

The Edmonton Oilers had one of the most fascinating runs in this year's Stanley Cup playoffs. Yet, after bringing themselves back up from a 3-0 deficit, they lost their chance for the reverse sweep, leaving the Florida Panthers with their first Stanley Cup trophy.
"THE FLORIDA PANTHERS HAVE WON THE STANLEY CUP IN GAME 7 🏆

FROM LOSING IN THE FINAL LAST SEASON TO WINNING THEIR FIRST CUP IN FRANCHISE HISTORY 🔥"
Despite this tough loss, the Oilers are clearly not out of the running for the Cup over the next few years. Edmonton head coach Kris Knoblauch iterated his belief in the team and their chance to finally bring the big victory back north after a 30-plus year drought.
"'I am very confident that we'll have a team that can compete and get to this stage again next season.'

Kris Knoblauch on the potential for the Oilers to return to the #StanleyCup Final."
Yet, it appears that by the time they have their next chance, Edmonton could be under new management. According to TSN sportscaster Darren Dreger, Oilers general manager Ken Holland is at the end of his contract and is set to depart from the team.
"Darren Dreger on TSN: 'Our understanding is that Ken Holland will not be back with the #Oilers. His contract expires, perhaps he wants to move on to new challenges or retirement.' #LetsGoOilers"
While his contract is set to expire, Ken Holland has yet to confirm whether or not he will step move on from Edmonton. However, if the Oilers can play another season like they did this year, they may not need him after all.
