The Edmonton Oilers have their sights set on Alexandre Carrier, who soon becomes a free agent after an impressive career with the Predators.

Carrier, 27, has played 217 games in the NHL, establishing himself as a reliable shut-down defenceman rather than an offensive force. His partnership with Ekholm during the 2021-22 season was particularly noteworthy, with Carrier posting a +27 rating, underscoring his defensive prowess.
The Oilers were linked to Carrier during the trade deadline as a potential replacement for Cody Ceci. With Ceci earning $3.25 million for one more season, the Oilers could potentially replace him with Carrier, who is expected to command a similar salary over three years. This move would not only bolster the Oilers' defence but also provide stability for the next three seasons.
The Oilers may be missing a general manager right now, but after getting so close to that cup victory, they're gonna want to make some line changes to finally bring home the cup. President Jeff Jackson faces significant pressure to make impactful moves, and securing Carrier would be an excellent start. The Oilers' fanbase eagerly awaits the team's next steps as they strive to build a championship-winning squad.
