Woodcroft had a rare moment of fun this season today as he addressed the media ahead of tonight's game against the Kraken. In a back-and-forth with Oilers beat writer Mark Spector, Woodcroft ended the discussion by saying, "I don't know, I don't read your stuff Spec."

Spector is a senior columnist for Sportsnet, primarily covering the Oilers.

Many were surprised to learn that Woodcroft was not fired after his team lost to the historically bad San Jose Sharks on Thursday. Even Woodcroft himself appeared to be caught by a cameraman saying "That might be it" to an assistant coach, implying they knew their jobs were on the line. If they weren't on the line then though, they almost certainly are now. A loss in regulation would tie the Oilers for the worst record in the league along with the aforementioned Sharks.

Tonight's matchup against the Kraken could have massive repercussions on the Oilers franchise. A win could be the beginning of a season-saving turnaround. Another loss could send the team back to the dark days of the pre-McDavid Oilers. Tune in at 10PM EST.
