Oilers CEO Jeff Jackson addressed questions with reporters recently. During the questions and answers session, he confirmed his plans for Oilers superstar Leon Draisaitl. The Oilers superstar has one year remaining on his current contract with the team on his very affordable 8.5 million dollar cap hit.
Draisaitl will certainly be due a major raise in his next deal. With William Nylander getting more than 11 million dollars on his recent extension with the Leafs, the Oilers superstar could be in line for one of the biggest contracts in NHL history.
Since signing his last deal with the Oilers, Draisaitl has cemented himself as one of the best players in the entire NHL. Over the past five seasons, the only player that has more points is Draisaitl's teammate, Connor McDavid.
This season, Draisaitl has been just as good as ever as he has 23 goals and 57 points in 45 games. He remains one of the most lethal powerplay scorers in the league as 10 of his goals have come on the man advantage.
