NHL Hits Draisaitl with Maximum Fine for Cross-Check

Last night, as the Oilers were playing against the New York Islanders, Draisaitl was called for a two-minute tripping minor on Bo Horvat. The "trip" was an intentional cross-check to the back of the legs.

Today, the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced a fine for Draisaitl.
Edmonton's Leon Draisaitl has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for a dangerous trip on NY Islanders' Bo Horvat.

Player Safety Punished Leon Draisaitl for horrible Cross-Check

Draisaitl and his Oilers may have had the last laugh, though as they won the game 4-1 to give Kris Knoblauch a victory in his first NHL game as head coach.
