BREAKING: Elliotte Friedman Hints An Oilers Star Could Want Out

Today Elliotte Friedman spoke about the Edmonton Oilers who have struggled to live up to expectations this season. With the frustrations came a coaching change and now has left uncertainty in the mind of superstar Leon Draisaitl.

''Sooner or later you start to look at the long-term picture, like uh oh, Draisaitl, what's he thinking right now? I don't believe you're there yet, but it's there, it's not too far into the horizon if this doesn't turn around."

While Draisaitl is a superstar he is considered second fiddle to Connor McDavid. He could want an opportunity to be a team's number one option and get back to winning.

"They're in a unique point this year because of the contract calendar. The contract calendar is going to force them into a lot of difficult conversations and decisions..."

Draisaitl is coming up on the final season of his current contract next season. If the Oilers miss the playoffs and continue to look like a mess Draisaitl could look for a new option. If he ends up unsigned heading deep into next offseason rumblings of a trade will surely pick up.

If Draisaitl is to be traded look for a sign and trade similar to the Matt Tkachuk situation where the Oilers get multiple assets in return.
