The first overall pick's Calder Trophy Tour will resume production shortly.

Chicago Blackhawks heqd coach Luke Richardson announced on Monday that star center Connor Bedard could be back on the ice as early as next week, recovering from a fractured jaw he sustained on January 5th at the New Jersey Devils. Despite the setback, Bedard has been working, skating, and participating in non-contact drills during practice sessions.

Bedard Return, Exciting News For Blackhawks Fans:

We're hoping after that six-week mark (after surgery), so that will be a week from today, I guess.

I think they just thought everything was on course, so maybe later in the week or early next week is probably when they're targeting for hopefully the last one,» he said. «They just said it was useless to take another image with radiation. Everything was on pace and looks to be on the same timeline that they thought.

The 18-year-old phenom has been as advertised leading all rookies with an impressive 33 points in 39 games. His return resumes his Calder Trophy campaign while giving fans of the league-worst Blackhawks something to root for.

While Richardson didn't specify which game Bedard returns the team has a series of matchups lined up, including games against the Carolina Hurricanes, Philadelphia Flyers, Winnipeg Jets, and Detroit Red Wings.

Despite being sidelined, Bedard hasn't let his injury dampen his spirits. He was selected for the 2024 NHL All-Star Game and even joined the announcement for the upcoming NHL Winter Classic at Wrigley Field in 2025 against the ST Louis Blues.

With their stars imminent return, Blackhawks fans have every reason to be excited about the team's prospects in the coming weeks.
