With his recent hot streak, Bedard is now up to five goals through his first ten games in the NHL. The last time a Blackhawk rookie scored at that rate in his first ten games came nearly 80 years ago when the NHL was a very different league.
With five goals in ten games, Bedard is obviously scoring once every other game on average. That puts him on pace for 40 goals as a rookie. That would put him tied for 13th all time in rookie goal scoring. Among the players ahead of him on that list are some of the best players and goal scorers of all time including Mario Lemieux, Luc Robitaille, and Alex Ovechkin. Every player to score 40 or more in their rookie season has gone on to make the hockey hall of fame other than Auston Matthews and Alex Ovechkin, who are both still active in the NHL and thus ineligible for the hall of fame.
