On Friday night, Flames' defenseman Rasmus Andersson landed a dangerous hit on the Blue Jackets' star player, Patrik Laine, as the game was ending.
According to Eric Francis, a Sportsnet analyst, the Calgary Flames are considering an appeal against the NHL's decision.
Should the Flames choose to proceed with the appeal, the NHL Players Association will need to assess the case before the NHL takes any further action. Depending on the outcome, the suspension may either remain at four games or be reduced.
As it stands, Andersson will miss the next four games, which includes the Heritage Classic on October 29th against Edmonton. He will become eligible to return on November 1st, for the Flames' game against the Dallas Stars.
