Last night, two of the best NHL teams faced off in an instense matchup: the Boston Bruins and the Winnipeg Jets.

Bruins End Massive Jets Streak in 4-1 Win

The Bruins ended up winning, managing to end the Jets' streak of 13 games without allowing more than two goals, and 34 without allowing more than three.

This marked the Bruins' fifth consecutive win.

Jeremy Swayman and his 21 saves were crucial in the win. Here's what he had to say after the game:

Forward Jake DeBrusk, who scored a late-game shorthanded-goal to seal the victory also commented:

"That's playoff hockey to be honest. It's probably not as physical or intense, but tight checking and low scoring is what you're going to see when it counts. Anytime you can get any ground in terms of confidence from winning these type of games it really helps everybody in the group."

Playoff hockey is always motivating, but something else helped the Bruins' players stay focused on their goal.

Coach Montgomery Reveals What Motivated his Team to Beat the Jets

Montgomery noted that the last time the Jets and the Bruins clashed, Winnipeg beat Boston 5-1, their worst loss in a four-game losing streak back in December.

"They embarrassed us the last time at Winnipeg."

"We have a lot of proud guys who've represented the Bruins for a long time in a good way. I think the opportunity to get back at them was something that was motivating to them. It's something that's part of the culture here."

The Bruins still had the taste of their last loss against the Jets and wanted to replace it with a victory.

Both teams are expected to remain on top this season and they could meet in the playoffs if they reach the Stanley Cup finals.
