We don't often see a goaltender and a player drop the gloves. Last night, in a game between the Capitals and the Blue Jackets, goalie Elvis Merzlikins lost control of his emotions and engaged in an altercation with Capitals' enforcer Tom Wilson.
In overtime, at the end of a night filled with Tom Wilson's antics, the goaltender lost control of his emotions and after another typical Wilson-move, he jumped on the Caps' forward.
Usually, head coaches defend their players. But in this case, Pascal Vincent decided to openly criticize the goaltender, and went as far as attributing the defeat to his emotional reaction.
