Matthews Makes a Major Statement About his Team Following Tough Defeat in Buffalo

Last night, Leafs fans had to watch their team lose 9-3 at the hands of the Sabres. From the first puck drop to the final horn, the Maple Leafs were outperformed, leaving much to be desired against their division rivals.
After the game, Matthews openly criticized his team:

"Embarrassing is probably the right word to use from start to finish, top to bottom, not nearly good enough. Just a bad hockey game from our team. Collectively, probably one of the worst games since I have been here. It's hard to pinpoint one thing. I think it was all just disappointing."

In a night filled with disappointment, Auston Matthews managed to shine briefly. He scored an impressive goal during the first period, where he showcased his great skills as he navigated the offensive zone, beat two players before scoring a sharp angle goal.
Despite the tough loss, Matthews' goal offered a glimmer of hope to Leafs' fans.
