The Winnipeg Jets started the summer with a bang when they traded Pierre-Luc Dubois, and now, one of the biggest pieces the team got in return has officially hit the ice.
After a career high 41 points (23 goals 18 assists) in 2022-23, the Jets were lucky to land forward Gabe Vilardi in the trade for PLD, as the 24-year old has a very bright future on the ice.
The former No. 11 overall pick has been a long way from Winnipeg down in Los Angeles to start his career, and in his first interview on the ice with the Jets, he revealed just how little he knew about this team.
In that interview, Vilardi revealed he knew very little about the Jets last year, claiming he believed veteran forward Mark Scheifele was the captain, and was shocked to find that the team didn't name one a season ago.
Now, Schiefele is likely on the way out as he is on the final year of his contract, giving the team a chance to look to the future and find a new leader, but for now, we hope that Vilardi is getting more acquainted with Winnipeg, the Jets and his teammates.
