The Boston Bruins are not holding back this year, especially after last season's disastrous finish in the playoffs. Now, they are rumoured to be going after this star.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are in an interesting position this season, as it is the first in a while that they are a potential bubble team to make the playoffs. It could be that the Lightning are entering the end of their dominant era. If that is the case, they may be considering moving some of their assets.
This, while it seems outlandish, could include long-time Lightning star and captain Steven Stamkos. Stamkos remains in the last year of his contract and unsigned, even though he has expressed interest in getting a deal done. Now, Elliotte Friedman has stated that if he remains unsigned and Tampa remains a bubble team, teams will be calling about Stamkos.
The Bruins are handling the retirement of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci better than most had expected, however, its unlikely that this rate of success will continue into the playoffs. They need to find a player who can step up into the role left by Bergeron and Krejci, or trade for their replacement.
