RUMOR: Bruins And Oilers Teaming Up For A Blockbuster Trade Involving Vezina Goaltender?

At this point, it's absolutely no secret that the Edmonton Oilers are a Stanley Cup contender, but after their 8-1 defeat at the hands of the Vancouver Canucks, the glaring hole on their team has once again been exposed.

Goaltending issues

With Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl leading the way, this should be a team competing for a Stanley Cup, but unfortunately, the lack of consistency in net down the stretch has come back to haunt them time after time.

That 8-1 loss saw both Jack Campbell and Stuart Skinner allow four goals, not exactly the way a powerhouse team wanted to start their 2023-24 season, and now, it's becoming clear they need to make a big time move.

A Vezina Trophy winner?

Unsurprisingly, the Oilers are now reportedly looking at an upgrade, with reports that GM Ken Holland has engaged in trade talks with the Boston Bruins, and while no further details are given, it makes sense for Linus Ullmark to be their biggest target.

The team have previously had interest in the 2022-23 Vezina Trophy winner, and if the Bruins don't consider themselves contenders after the loss of star power this summer, this move makes sense for both parties.

Ultimately, Edmonton need a major upgrade, but cap issues and player assets could make this a tough deal to work out, so keep an eye on this space as the Oilers finally look for a deep Cup run.
