Attendance at Winnipeg Jets games so far this season has been bad. So bad that even the team's players are starting to take notice.

A New Low

Even with Pierre-Luc Dubois returning to town Tuesday for the first time since requesting a trade from the Jets, it seems fans just weren't interested. Attendance was 11,226, the lowest total (excluding COVID crowds) since the team moved back to Winnipeg 12 years ago. Jets' star Kyle Connor called it disappointing.
"It was a little surprising, to be honest. First game, I didn't notice it right away. Me and [Nikolaj] Ehlers (on Tuesday) had a conversation sitting on the bench, we were looking around, and were a little taken aback. You'd like to see that supportdisappointed, for sure."

Deja Vu?

The low tickets sales are especially concerning given the campaign the team's ownership launched last year. That campaign even made mention of what happened the last time the Jets team suffered from low attendance, which was relocation to Atlanta. Connor said he just hopes it doesn't get worse.
"I sure hope not. That's what Winnipeg's known for, is extremely passionate fans. We use that to our advantage.

That's what we players live for, is those big atmospheres."

According to the Winnipeg Sun, the Jets used to have a season ticketholder base of around 13,000, with another 8,000 on the waiting list. It's now under 10,000, and the waiting list is gone.
