The Winnipeg Jets have been off to a slow start in 2023-24, and with every game mattering to the final standings come the end of the season, they're looking to make changes now to get rolling.

A surprising move

It's not the obvious move to make, but after three straight games without a point, the Jets are now scratching veteran defenseman Nate Schmidt for tonight's game against the Vegas Golden Knights.

The 32-year old is in his third season with the Jets, tallying 51 points over his first two campaigns, but now, it appears the team could be looking to get younger on the blue line.

A rough start

With all the news about the attendance in Winnipeg, the Jets haven't exactly set the world on fire, picking up one win through three games, and on the road in Vegas they face a very tough team as they look to turn momentum.
It's unlikely to be the end of Schmidt in Winnipeg though, as he's still got plenty to offer this team, and if the Jets continue to struggle, he'll likely be back in the lineup very soon.
