Boston Bruins Allegedly Crafting Enormous Offer for a 100-Point Scorer

The Boston Bruins are at a key moment as a team. After the best regular season ever in the NHL and a swift playoff elimination, they need to rethink many things.

Bruins Planning Big Trade

It's clear that the Bruins' chances to win are getting smaller.

Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci might retire after this season, and Brad Marchand isn't playing as well as he used to.

With big contracts for Charlie McAvoy and David Pastrnak, the Bruins need to be clever about their moves in the offseason. They'll probably have to say goodbye to recent players Dmitry Orlov and Tyler Bertuzzi, and they might need to trade players like Matt Grzelcyk or Mike Reilly to manage their budget.

So, they're thinking about getting a big, stable player who won't cost too much in the long run, and they might have found it.

Nugent-Hopkins in Boston?

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had the best season of his career this year, scoring 104 points. A lot of this was due to playing with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl on the Oilers' amazing power play, but he's a great player on his own too.

He's got six years left on a contract that pays him just $5.125 million a year, and if he's open to moving, he could be a perfect fit for the Boston Bruins.

"The Boston Bruins are expected to pursue Ryan Nugent-Hopkins as their big "off-season swing" to try and make another run at a Stanley Cup, per Jimmy Murphy. In exchange, the Bruins are willing to trade Matt Grzelcyk, and they have already been attempting to shop Taylor Hall."

The player from British Columbia could be just what the Bruins need to stay competitive a bit longer - the only question is if he'd be willing to leave the only team he's played for in his NHL career.
