The Minnesota Wild have seen consistent goaltending over the past few years, and now, they've locked in a key piece for three years to come.

Filip Gustavsson

The Minnesota Wild have been on the verge of a deep playoff run for years, but unfortunately, they've failed to capitalize on their talent, but now they believe they've found their starting goaltender of the future.

That would be 25-year old Filip Gustavsson, who played in 39 games a season ago for Minnesota, posting a 22-9-7 record with a .931 save percentage and 2.10 GAA, and now he's been rewarded.

Big time extension

Now, the Wild have announced a well deserved extension, paying Gustavsson $11.25 million over three years, locking him in as the likely starter.

They've got plenty of work to do if they want to go on a deep playoff run, but now, they've found stability in net, and will look to finally go on a big time run this season.
