It is not often that top-five picks fails to have meaningful NHL careers, but that appears to be the case for former Canuck's 5th overall pick, Olli Juolevi.

Juolevi Released From PTO With Coyotes

Olli Juolevi was released from his PTO with the Coyotes today. The 25-year-old 6'3" defenseman was drafted 5th overall by the Canucks in 2016. Since then, he has managed to get into just 41 games registering a measly 3 points.

Juolevi had spent most of his time in North America playing in the AHL but has never been able to play more than 45 games in a single season. Now, according to the Coyotes PR team, is seems his time in North America may be coming to an end.

Juolevi was drafted ahead of several guys that are now NHL superstars including Matthew Tkachuk, Clayton Keller, and Mikhail Sergachev. This pick by the Canucks was a nightmare scenario for the team, just one of many poor decisions that has plagued them in the last decade.
