The Penguins and Blue Jackets have completed a forward swap in a trade.

Former 1st Rounder Traded By Pens



The Pittsburgh Penguins have traded forward Alex Nylander and a conditional 2026 sixth-round pick to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for forward Emil Bemstrom.




Penguins General Manager Kyle Dubas, who resisted calls to move William Nylander while GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs, now finally moves a Nylander in William's younger brother, who has played in 5 games for Pittsburgh this season.

Nylander, drafted 8th Overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2016 NHL Draft, was in his 2nd season with Pittsburgh. In 6 NHL seasons, Nylander has played in 98 games, with 14 goals, 20 assists & 34 points with the Sabres, Blackhawks & Penguins.

Bemstrom, drafted 117th by Columbus in thr 2017 NHL Draft, has spent his entire career with the Blue Jackets, with 5 goals and 11 points in 32 games this season. In five seasons with Columbus, Bemstrom has 31 goals, 38 assists & 69 points in 204 career games.
