New Mock Trade Proposed By An Insider Sends A Star Goaltender To Edmonton

Today a mock trade put together by an NHL insider suggests the Oilers could be getting a new goaltender.

Oilers Goaltending Struggles Continue

Despite changing things up the Edmonton Oilers' goalie issues have continued. The Oilers of course sent Jack Campbell to the AHL to figure out his game.



In his absence, the Oilers have still struggled with their new duo.

Stuart Skinner this season in his 14 games has a 3.37 goals against average and a 0.875 save percentage. Skinner was thought to be the future and the starter heading into this season. His disappointing play has led the Oilers to reconsider his future with the team.

Calvin Pickard has seen limited action since being called up but has also struggled. In his two appearances, Pickard has a 2.94 goals-against average and a 0.891 save percentage. Considering Pickard's prestige this performance is about what the team probably expected.

With a need for stability in the net, a new rumor has suggested a solution.

Mock Trade Lands The Oilers A Savior

A new mock trade has been put on the table that could solve the Oilers' goaltending problems. Caleb Kerney of The Hockey News suggests that Carter Hart could be an answer for the Oilers.

The trade would send Hart to Edmonton for a myriad of assets.


This would be an all-in move for the Oilers. They would need to be sure they could contend with Hart in the fold. Hart has played well and had a resurgence this season despite the suspect defense in Philadelphia.



If the Oilers want to continue being in the playoff conversation a Carter Hart level acquisition would certainly help. As the Oilers chart their course for the future we will see if that includes Carter Hart.
