BREAKING: Oilers To Lose McDavid For Extended Period Of Time

Published October 22, 2023 at 7:17 PM

Connor McDavid has been off to a relatively slow start this year by his standards with just 8 points in 5 games. That is just a 132 point pace. Now the Oilers offense, which has been struggling all around, will be without the best player in the world for an extended period of time.

McDavid Injury Scare

McDavid finished the Oiler's last game against Winnipeg on the bench despite the game going to overtime. He did not take a single shift in the extra frame, leading many fans to believe he was dealing with an injury. Now that injury news has been confirmed.

In classic NHL fashion, the team is being secretive about the specifics of the injury, listing it simply as an upper-body injury and he will be out one to two weeks. Luckily, the Oilers have a relatively light schedule in the coming weeks, as they play just five games between now and November 4th. McDavid will, however, likely miss the Heritage Classic against the Flames next Sunday.

In the meantime, the Oilers will have to find a way to solidify their offense without McDavid. Historically, that has not been an easy task for the team.
