One of the most influential NHL insiders has shared some information regarding Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander. Frank Seravalli said in a recent podcast appearance that Nylander has made so much money at this point in his career that he's in the position where he can take his contract negotiations as slow as he wants.He's already a pretty wealthy guy, but he'll be hitting a significant payday. It's an exciting place to be if you're Nylander because you already have some career security. You've made enough money at this point that even if he didn't play another game next season and beyond, he'd be okay. That's important, and it also allows you to shoulder the risk of this season, which lacks that future security in your back pocket. What the Future Holds for Nylander
By all accounts, Nylander enjoys playing in Toronto and would love to re-sign there. But he is in no hurry to sign on the dotted line in Toronto. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2024, and could take a look at other team's offers before he decides whether the Maple Leafs' offer is the most appealing. His next contract could approach or even exceed $10 million annually.
