The Toronto Maple Leafs have begun their prospect tournament and are worried that their top prospect got injured after one game.

Knies Hurt?

The Toronto Maple Leafs may not have the strongest prospect pool in the NHL but their best prospect, Matthew Knies, certainly could line up against some of the best prospects in the NHL.
The Leafs are currently playing in the Traverse City prospect tournament and Knies is leading the way for them. However, he got a nasty wack to the wrist that the trainer has to look at.
Looks like Knies took a whack on his wrist. Briefly looked a by staff but he's toughing it out.

Season Altering Mistake?

Knies is currently projected to play the entirety of next season with the Leafs with plenty of experts predicting he will wind up in their top six before the season's end.
There is even a solid chance that Knies beat out veteran players like Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi for a slot on the first line alongside Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner.
Knies did not need to play in this tournament, he could have gone straight to training camp but he went anyway.
I get that we sent Knies to matchup against strong CBJ and DET groups but I'd be hesitant to risk a preventable injury considering he's a good bet for a Top-6 spot on a cup contender.

If Knies winds up hurt because of this and misses any time, we could be witnessing the biggest Leafs mistake of the Brad Treliving era thus far.
