Elliotte Friedman Reveals Massive Update on William Nylander's Contract Status
Elliotte Friedman just revealed a massive update on the status of William Nylander's potential contract extension in Toronto, and a deal seems imminent.
Elliotte Friedman Reveals Nylander Could Sign Extension This Week
William Nylander is one of the top pending free agents this year, and he is earning his status. With 50 points already in just 35 games, Nylander is on a tear in his contract year.
His play has been so good, that some thought that he was playing himself out of a contract in Toronto, as they had their own Cap situation to worry about. However, it appears that they may be close to getting a deal done, as Elliotte Friedman announced something could be announced as early as this week.
Further to the report from Kypreos earlier, Friedman says he thinks a Nylander extension could happen as early as this week.
The rumour is that the deal could be over $11 million AAV, a number that seemed impossible at the start of the year. However, with players on LTIR, it looks like Treliving is willing to pinch pennies to keep Nylander.

Nylander Impresses Last Night As Negotiation Talks Increase
In true William Nylander fashion, the increase in contract talks didn't seem to add any pressure to his game. He managed to pot two goals last night against the LA Kings, reaching 50 points and putting him on pace for 117 points.
William Nylander is on pace for 45 goals and 117 points this season.
We will have to wait and see the details of any contract that could be done, however, it's safe to say any deal would be great for Leaf fans.
