Alex DeBrincat Addresses The Narrative Surrounding Canadian Exit

During the offseason, numerous rumors circulated about Alex DeBrincat's desire to leave Ottawa. Given his relatively short time with the Senators, it appeared as though he was eager to depart. In a recent interview, he addressed the trade rumors.

"Over the summer when a lot of that stuff was coming out. I saw a little bit of it. It is what it is I think. I know what happened behind closed doors and what the situation was. A lot of the stuff coming out wasn't exactly how it played out. It is what it is. They'll write what they want to write. That's fine with me."

DeBrincat had previously clarified that the trade was not instigated by him, although he did convey to Senators management that he wasn't interested in signing a long-term contract.

Regardless of the circumstances surrounding the trade, it appears to be paying off for DeBrincat, as he has had a blistering start to the year with the Red Wings. DeBrincat has accumulated 8 points in the first 4 games of the season, amassing 5 goals and 3 assists.
