The Oilers' General Manager had some choice words for his team after a slow start to the year, paying them a visit to the locker room after their slow start to the season.

Holland and Coffey Meet With Oilers Team To Discuss Slow Start

The Oilers were expected to be a top contender for the Stanley Cup this season, and while it is early, they haven't had the start they had hoped for. However, this may be a turnaround point for the Club, as they had a big win against the Flames during the Heritage Classic that was reminiscent of their successes last season.
This win could have been the result of a stern meeting that occurred after the slow start to the season. Ken Holland and Paul Coffey both paid a visit to the team, asking them to figure out who they wanted to be this year.
«Paul Coffey and Ken Holland — I believe — had a meeting with the team over the weekend,» said Frank Seravalli. «They asked them what kind of team they wanted to be: average, good, or great. That is going to sacrifice and effort, which you saw a bit more of that in the Heritage Classic with how hungry they were for pucks and other little details. Ultimately, despite a bunch of hurdles to start, they managed to stay afloat and take hold of the game. Sometimes teams need a jolt, and I wonder if, with everything that has happened, it will help set this team on the right course.»

McDavid knew just how important the Heritage Classic was as well in bringing the team together to turn things around.
"This is a good way for our group to come together in a unique environment."

Oilers Have What it Takes to Be Successful

The Oilers have all the right pieces to go on a run this year if they can find it within themselves to make it happen. They look to keep the momentum going against the Dallas Stars tonight with an opportunity to build on their success against a team coming off a back-to-back.
