The Jets had a turbulent offseason this year, with fans and the media unsure of what direction owner Mark Chipman would want to take the Jets. With Mark Schiefele and Connor Hellebuyck on expiring contracts, it was a logical time for the team to begin a new era, however, it wasn't clear exactly what direction the Jets wanted to go, which led to a lot of speculation.
The extension to Schiefele and Hellebuyck, together nonetheless, was a sure sign that the Jets are not interested in a rebuild any time soon.
Jets owner Mark Chipman recently sat down with Darren Dreger to discuss the upcoming season, as well as attendance issues and other things Jets-related. What's interesting is Chipman's take on rebuilding, which could explain why the team isn't entering into one.
The Jets are off to an okay start, with a 4-3 record, and if they don't get some success this year in the offseason, conversations could look different next year.
