The Toronto Maple Leafs have not exactly lived up to expectations this year so far. That being said, a mediocre regular season could easily be forgotten if the team goes on a long playoff run for the first time in the core-four era. One move that could go a long way in ensuring this would be to upgrade in goal.

One area where the Leafs have struggled this season has been in goal. Ilya Samsonov in particular has been especially bad. Now the team is reportedly considering their options in goal for the rest of the season. One goalie the team has been linked to is Flames starting goaltender Jacob Markstrom.
Rumors: The Leafs among a hand full of other teams are seen as a potential fit for Flames G Jacob Markstrom.

Flames Shopping Starting Goaltender Markstrom?
The Flames have been in a tough spot all season as the team has consistently underperformed expectations over the past couple of seasons. Now the team seems to be entering a rebuild or retool phase as the team has already traded away Nikita Zadorov and other players have been rumored to be in trade discussions. Today it came out that goaltender Jacob Markstrom could be another player to be moved this season.
Rumors started flying around the internet regarding the Flames netminder after NHL insider Kevin Weekes posted the following cryptic post about him on X.
This post would seem to suggest that the Flames are shopping Markstrom. This would make sense considering the rumors that the Leafs have asked about his availability. Other teams rumored to be involved in Markstrom are the Carolina Hurricanes and New Jersey Devils.
