The Winnipeg Jets made the massive trade of Pierre-Luc Dubois this summer, and while it was a good move for the future, it's got many questioning just how their forward group will look this year.

A home grown replacement?

It appears that his replacement as the Jets second line center has been in front of them all along, and now, they just need to take a chance on a young 21-year-old that's ready to produce at the NHL level.

That young name is Cole Perfetti, who has been on the verge of a breakout in the NHL for a number of years now, and according to reports from camp, it appears he's going to be given every opportunity to take on that role.

We're going to give him every opportunity to play center. - Jets Coach Rick Bowness on Perfetti.

Unlimited potential

Perfetti took a major step forward in 2022-23 when he played in 51 games following 18 the season before, and with 8 goals and 30 points in that time, he's shown that he's ready for an NHL spot.

The Jets feel as though they can win now with veterans like Mark Scheifele, Connor Hellebuyck, Kyle Connor, and Nik Ehlers, but regardless if they are competing for a playoff spot or looking to the future, Perfetti is the biggest potential star on this team, and he'll get the chance to prove it this year.
