Every year, The Athletic reveal their player rankings both positionally and overall, and mostly, it's done in controversial fashion to draw attention, and that's now exactly what has happened.
During their September ranking of defenseman in the NHL, The Athletic ranked Edmonton's Mattias Ekholm over Flames rival Rasmus Andersson, and it's safe to say that most people around the league would highly disagree with that take.
Now, an anonymous NHL player has reacted to that exact article, and if you side with Andersson>Ekholm, you'll certainly love what they had to say about the situation.
While Ekholm hasn't been bad with the Oilers, it's clear that Andersson is regarded by most as a slightly better player, and although he'll miss the Heritage Classic due to suspension, he has shown even in the Battle of Alberta that he can be a much better player.
